North Scottsdale Books: Tuesday, May 1, 10:00 am.  Book: Dreaming in English by Laura Fitzgerald.  Location: Home & Design Idea Center conference room, 19120 N. Pima Rd. (just off the 101 on  west side).  The book for June is State of Wonder by Ann Patchett.

Board Meeting:  Wednesday, May 2, 6:45 pm at the home of Cynthia Peplinski. 

Community Action / Public Policy: Monday, May 7, 2:00 pm at the home of Jean Reed Roberts.  Please RSVP to Jean.

Books, Etc.: Wednesday, May 9, 6:00 pm. We will meet at Judy Hubbard’s house for a pot luck dinner and next year’s book selection. Please RSVP to Judy so we can have a variety of delicious dishes.  If a member has a book that she wishes to introduce to the group, please e-mail a short descriptive paragraph at least a week before the book selection meeting! Some of the categories for book selection are: historical fiction, biography, fiction, fiction short story, mystery, fiction social issues, and non-fiction. So don’t hoard those wonderful books that you took with you everywhere, read through dinner and stayed up till midnight to read. Share them with our very erudite members! 

Diners Club: Saturday, May 12, 6:30 pm.  Our final meeting for the season will be a barbecue at Anne and Sal Palazzo’s home.  Please RSVP to Anne by MAY 5 to confirm your attendance and for assignment of your dish. We encourage new members to come as well as regulars. 

Non-Fiction Books: Monday, May 14, 10:00 am.  Book: Catherine the Great: Portrait of a Woman by Robert K. Massie.  Hostess: Shirley Odegaard.  Group leader: Rickie Sorensen.

Ladies Bridge Marathon: Monday, May 14, 12:00 at the clubhouse at Ruth Worden’s for lunch and some bridge.  Contact Ruth for more information.  This will be our last meeting of the season.

Bookies: Tuesday, May 15, 12:30 pm.  Book: Family Album by Penelope Lively.  Hostess: Rickie Sorensen.  The book for June is Caleb’s Crossing by Geraldine Brooks.

International Relations:  Thursday, May 17, 1:00 pm.  Hostess: Shirley Odegaard.  Topic: Chapter 2: Promoting Democracy: Foreign Policy Imperative.  Group leader is Illean Finkel. 

Branch General Meeting:  Saturday, May 19, SCC Peridot Room.  Please join us for our annual branch retreat as we make plans for the coming year.

Scrapbooking:  Monday, May 21, 1:00 to 4:00 pm.  Hostess and group leader: Sharon Clunk.  Learn how to organize your photos and memorabilia.  Also, continuing scrap-bookers will be your helpers.  RSVP to Sharon.

Writing Your Life:  We will not be meeting May through September, and will resume our monthly meetings in October.  We welcome questions and new members; please contact Donna Farman.
